30 new jobs at payment processing firm based in Ireland

OmniPay, a payment processing company that established itself in Ireland in 2000 has announced, with the support of IDA Ireland, that it is to create a further 30 jobs at its headquarters in Dublin over the next six months.

OmniPay already employs 165 people at its base in Clonskeagh in South Dublin City, with this figure rising to just under 200 after all new job positions have been filled.

Payment processing firm First Data – headquartered in the States – wholly owns OmniPay after it acquired the remaining 30% equity stake from Fexco in April 2012. First Data initially invested in OmniPay in 2002, and then again in 2006 when it took a majority equity interest.

With the creation of 30 new jobs, OmniPay hopes to further develop its services in emerging markets in Africa, India and Latin America. The company is already well established in Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific.

A “wide range of highly-skilled technology, customer service and professional services” personnel are required. This extends to “project managers, business analysts, systems developers and quality assurance specialists.

Co-founder and CEO of OmniPay, Hubert O’Donoghue, commented that the announcement was “great news” for the “burgeoning payments industry in Ireland”.

Yesterday, it was announced that Huawei, a Chinese telecommunications equipment and services company, is to create 50 new jobs in Ireland as it opens a new research and development centre across two sites in Cork City and Dublin.
