Irish International BBDO is premiering its new international ad for Diageo’s Guinness brand, Dark Life, on Irish television this weekend.
The latest in Guinness’s iconic commercials uses state-of-the-art digital post production techniques, as well as some nice Canon 5D digital cameras, to superimpose the famous stout’s head settling over some global cityscapes. It was directed by French director Frederic Planchon and filmed in cities from New York, Bogota & Hong Kong.
Digitology blog explains how they created the effects here.
Speaking to their blog about the effects Irish International’s Pat Hamill said, “Watching the effects come together was a real pleasure. Tom Debenham [Visual Effects Supervisor and Director of Photography with One of Us] really put in the hours to achieve a great result under a great deal of time pressure. We were looking for a unique magical effect and that’s what we got”.
The ad’s music is 10 Mile Stereo from Beach House and is taken from their critically acclaimed album Teen Dream. The commercial will air internationally from next month.
