We confirmed yesterday that Android Honeycomb is indeed Android 3.0. Now, just hours later Google themselves have officially confirmed this at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, and have released further details and a sneak peak video of their latest version of the Android OS.
Honeycomb is specifically designed for devices with larger screen sizes, in particular tablets. This OS update includes refined multi-tasking, elegant notifications, well over 100,000 Android Market apps, and home screen customisation with a new 3D experience.
“We’ve spent a lot of time refining the user experience in Honeycomb, and we’ve developed a brand new, truly virtual and holographic user interface.”
The web browser now includes tabbed browsing, form auto-fill, Google Chrome bookmark synchronisation, and a private browsing mode.
Honeycomb also allows access to over three million Google eBooks, and Google Talk, which now allows video and voice chat to any other device with Google Talk enabled.
