Google+ Pages for brands and businesses have arrived

Google+ brand pages have finally arrived. Google made the announcement earlier today, enabling brands and businesses to legitimately connect with users on Google’s 40 million strong social network.

Google+ Pages look very similar to personal Google+ profiles, with the addition of a small icon to help distinguish the two. Vic Gundotra, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Google, commented,

“For businesses and brands, Google+ pages help you connect with the customers and fans who love you. Not only can they recommend you with a +1, or add you to a circle to listen long-term”.

In addition to Google+ Pages, Google has also introduced two ways to add pages to Google+ circles from within Google search results. The first method will see Google+ Pages included in search results, and the second method a new feature called Direct Connect.

Direct Connect works when searching for brands on Google Search. By typing ‘+’ in front of a query, like ‘+Pepsi’, Google features Google+ Pages in the search auto-suggest box.

Google+ pages launch partners include Angry Birds, Pepsi, and Barcelona FC.
