Despite eager anticipation from Irish users Jack Dorsey’s smartphone credit card scanner, Square, has no plans to launch in Ireland…just yet. Speaking to The Sociable the guys at Square said to us,

Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales is asking for more money. In a personal message posted on Wikipedia Jimmy is asking users to donate $20, $35, $50 or more to keep the site running. Wales, says
Together, we can keep it free of charge and free of advertising. We can keep it open – you can use the information in Wikipedia any way you want. We can keep it growing – spreading knowledge everywhere, and inviting participation from everyone.
