Irish wedding start-up Mrs2be.ie has purchased similarly-named and suited Welsh company Mrs2be.com to help bring its brand to an international audience.

Mrs2be.ie has been operating an online Irish wedding community since 2009. The company has grown rapidly to become the second most popular online wedding destination in Ireland behind weddingsonline.ie in a saturated but lucrative market.

Mrs2be.ie brings together wedding resources such as bands, bridal shops, cake specialists, florists, photographers and venues, as well as a busy forum and a blog full of planing ideas and inspiration.

Keith Malone, who co-founded Mrs2be.ie with his wife Claire, commented that,

“Acquiring the UK-based Mrs2Be.com business was a natural progression for us. Despite an over-saturated marketplace, we’ve already managed to quickly position Mrs2Be.ie as Ireland’s second-largest wedding website. While we expect to enjoy further growth in Ireland, this acquisition offers exciting possibilities because the UK market is approximately ten times larger.”

With the average wedding in Ireland costing just over €27,000, Mrs2be.ie helps couples make informed descisions. Something that is even more crucial in hard economic times.

By acquiring Mrs2be.com, the company wants to transition themselves from a solely domestic brand to an international one that can challenge the larger online wedding market.
